Gym membership motivation throughout winter
When the nights draw in and the temperature drops, it can be harder than ever to motivate yourself to come along to the gym. Here at our Streatham gym, we’re here to help you stay motivated, whatever the weather, with these five top tips.
1. Set goals
As with anything in life, you’re far more likely to succeed if you have a plan in place. Don’t wait to make a New Year’s Resolution, set out your fitness goals and a clear exercise routine and you’ll be more likely to stick to it.
2. Commit to a class
Booking a fitness class makes it more likely that you’ll attend. Schedule it in your diary and set reminders of when you intend to hit the gym – think of it like any other meeting that you can’t miss.
3. Buddy up
If you find a friend to workout with you will be far more likely to make it to the gym. By buddying up you can motivate and encourage one another to stay focused on your fitness goals – and you’ll have a lot more fun along the way!
4. Try something new
Doing the same thing every time you come to the gym can be boring, but even more so in the chilling winter weather. When motivation is lacking, try something new to boost your energy levels. Check out a new class or learn to use different equipment in the gym to hold your interest.
5. Diet dos and don’ts
As well as exercise, diet goals are also important in the winter months. This is a time of year when we want comfort food, that is rich and warming, but often higher in calories. To counteract this, plan meals ahead so that you have a clear idea of what you will be eating. Remember that eating healthily will also have a positive impact on your exercise goals.
If you’re looking for exercise classes, gym classes or a gym membership in London this winter, or are setting your new year goals, the team here at Element Fitness can motivate you through to those warmer spring days.
